Hi Guys

Im new to this forum and have just bought a 2007 RX400H. all works fine apart from the volume on the radio, the dealer had to put a new start Battery on the car when I picked it up and on the way home I tried to put the radio on, it comes on, display works and station buttons work, but no volume at all, the nav system voice works, the voice command works but no volume on radio, also I cannot load any CD's into the 6 cd changer, I have followed the instructions but no orange flashing lights or green steady lights? Has anyone had this problem with an RX400H and if so how do you sort it. I have checked all fuses and none have blown.

Hi & welcome

I'd get the whole unit changed under warranty. The CD changer can be problematic but never known about a volume problem. Except for that the RX400h is a very reliable car. Check the sunroof drain holes are clear.

I had the exact same problem when I picked up my RX400h from the dealer. It had been sat on the forecourt so he had to put a new Battery in when I went to pick it up. When he was demonstrating the controls, the salesman couldn't get the volume to work on the radio. The sat nav voice was fine.

Thing is, I can't remember exactly how I got it fixed unfortunately as this was over 2 years ago. I had to call the AA out as it had another flat Battery 2 weeks after I picked the car up, and I mentioned the radio problem to the guy, and he managed to fix the volume in about 30 seconds. He said it had to do with the dealer changing the Battery.

Sorry I can't be of more help, but rest assured it is a very easy and quick problem to fix if you have someone who knows how.

From memory, if your 12v aux Battery under the bonnet repeatedly goes flat, and you have no sound from the stereo, it is likely the stereo Amp may be damaged, there have been a couple of posts here in the past that reported your symptoms and turned out to be the Amp - it had developed a fault/short circuit that meant it was constantly pulling power when the car was off and wouldn't produce any audio output.

The Sat Nav voice bypasses the amp, so isn't affected.

If it isn't the amp then it could be the head unit itself as you said you can't load or eject CDs. If this was due to a mechanical issue, you'd have an err message displayed on the LCD screen. What happens when you change radio stations, does that seem to work normally? Also the menus for balance, bass, treble etc, can you get to these?

Hi, try the "Service Check" - if you watch the first 30 secs of this video:

It will show you how to get into the service menus on the RX400.

Get to the screen with "Service Check" button & press it.

Wait for 20 seconds or so whilst the computer checks your systems, if it detects a problem with the Amp, you see something similar to this chap at 1m 15s into this vid:

Let us know what happens!

Thanks Chris, I have just bought a Lexus rx400h 2006 which had same problem. The person I bought it from said it was working fine till he got the Battery changed.

In my case it was 30amp Amp fuse in fuse box blown. I had a spare fuse that i replaced and radio started working.

Me and all my family members had gone on so many forums to find out the solution for this and here is my conclusions below.

1. You need to check all fuses in fuse box, especially "Amp" fuse then "Radio/ Rad" fuse then someone mentioned "Tel or Tell" fuse.

2. If this happened when Battery was replaced then disconnect the Battery and reconnect after cleaning the terminals and other connections that are connected with main terminal cables and ensure all connections are firm tight (this has resolved the issue for some people) if you still have the same problem after reconnecting the Battery it might be worth checking out the Fuses mentioned in step 1 again. If they are all fine then...

3. Check Amp cable to see if this is damaged and causing the Battery to go flat. It might be catching ground connection or some other cables and blowing up the fuse. If this is the case fix this issue and recharge your Battery and reconnect it (if your car Battery was replaced recently and you know it is new.

4. If your car Battery is old and going flat often then replace the Battery and follow all 3 step above if your radio and blue tooth volume isn't working and stays at "0".

5. If you have done all of the above and you still have the same problem then apparently pressing on the left of the radio body has fixed the issue for some. I am not sure where exactly as mine wasn't this issue. On other forums it has fixed it for some people. Apparently hot weather or if radio was pulled out before can cause a loose connection inside the radio (if you are very good at it you can open up the Radio and check all connections inside but you may not have to go this far).

6. If all fails and you are now sure that Radio unit or the Amplifier is faulty then replace them by buying the same from eBay or other places but i don't think you will get to this stage but some people have replaced amplifier and it has fixed the problem and others have replaced the Radio.(your own diagnosis and gut feeling about what might be faulty and depending on what is the cheapest option for you to go with first if you are unsure). If you have have bought one of them and still facing the same issue then buy the other and replace and hopefully you can sort it out and sell non faulty product or keep it, it's up to you.

I hope this helps others.

Good luck.
