Following on from my topic regarding the LS430 I've seen sitting. I've done an mot check on it and it comes back that in 2014 it had serious leaking front shocks.  But last year it only had light misting.  Is this  a big job on these to replace.  Is it to do with the air suspension.  The car does look a bit unloved

leaking shocks is more common the GS range.

i have not come across any cases at all here on the LS forum of shocks needing replacing or any owner doing it.

However if the GS300/GS450h replacements are to go by then i would say its a dealer only part (about £600 each) and probably a good idea to get them replaced by the dealer also as i believe some calibration of the air suspension is required -  a member here had the ride height sensors replaced by an independant garage using Original parts but the car would not rise afterwards so he had to take it to Lexus.

If you really interested then take it for an MOT before committing

Do a check in the forum and you will see how much trouble and poor quailty the LS430 suspension is.

John, as Jake430 says, the air-suspension, although giving a cloud-like ride, can cost mega money to fix. About a grand per corner. The good news is that conventional shocks and springs can be retro-fitted for far less money. I believe the ride comfort is not quite the same though.

After knocking and seeing the owner. The cars not for sale. It looked pretty rough anyway. After reading all this I wouldn't have touched it anyway. Thanks all

None of my business, but didn't you sell your LS400 because it was too big?

To be honest I'm under pressure from the Mrs to sell something.  My thoughts were if I could get the ls430 very cheap I could tinker with it and still keep my mk1 mx5 which I love, then sell the ls400.

Fair play, as logic goes, that's up their with the top female one, of saving a fortune, by emptying the bank balance at the sales!!

Best of luck getting it past her.

She's ok.  I must admit the ls is completely impractical and I've only used it once. But I sat in it last night and it's a lovely old thing. Bit like the Mrs actually
