LS430 heated and cooled seats.

Last night I decided to put my heated seat on and found that it hardly works if it works at all!!! I switched the passenger side on and that one did feel warm to the touch on both the seat base and seat back. I can confirm that I can hear the fans running when I turn the heated seat on. I know there has been some confusion as to whether the seat is heated by blowing warm air with the fan or a heating pad like most other heated seats. Am I right in thinking that it uses warm air and the fans otherwise why would the fans come on with the seat heater? My main question is it worth cleaning or replacing the filters under the seats? I haven't taken them out yet to see if they are dirty. Is it an easy job to take out these filters? Finally, where in the UK sells these filters, I've looked on the bay and could only find some in the USA. Cheers for any help!!!

I believe the seats are heated with an electric element, I never used my seat fan except for cooling, but for heating I just switched it on.

That's what I thought at first but what made me wonder is that I can hear the fans running on both the cooling and heating settings. I've also heard that the heating and cooled seats aren't brilliant at the best of times on these cars but I want to get them working as good as they can be lol!!!

To be fair I did find both cooling and heating were good.  The filters are rarely changed, out of sight, out of mind!

I didn't do mine as the previous owner said they had been replaced, but I don't think they're that difficult.  maybe you can just clean the existing ones?  I certainly didn't hear the fans running unless I turned the (fiddly) switch round.  I see you're from Yorkshire, I drove all the way there and back yesterday, a 520 mile round trip!
