Time to get some TLC for the Mk4. Usual fluids service, transmission checking/servicing. Doesn't need a cambelt, that was done last year. There is a clonk from what I think is the front suspension top at low speed (for speed bumps, etc) and I'd like that looked at. Might even get them to fix/replace the pesky washer fluid sensor thingy!

I don't want to use the place I used last year, so I searched and Japex seems to have some positive reviews here and elsewhere.

Wondering if anyone has used them recently and can confirm? And - as they're not very close - do we know if they can offer a courtesy car?

Or other suggestions near(ish) Cambridge?

As a non main dealer option they are excellent!

Used them 2-3 times.

Honest, capable, fair prices.

They lent me a small Mazda courtesy car too.

Barry, I can echo Piers' recommendation. I've used Japex a few times for different jobs. Last time was for MOT.  (Passed with flying colours). They have taken on a few more staff recently as they are now busier than ever. One of the owners is Stuart, who I always ask for when enquiring about work on my mk 4. I wouldn't take my car anywhere else.

Hi Guys, I called Japex Automotive, 2 days ago and they quoted me £900, including VAT to do the timing belt change, including a water pump, idler bearing, tensioner bearing, basically the full kit with genuine lexus part, it seems a bit too expensive and I asked the lady receptionst, if i could supply the parts, but they won't accept it and they said only the parts from lexus were about £600, so £300 label work, does it look like a reasonable price?

Alfred, I'm surprised that Japex were not willing to use the parts supplied by yourself. In the past they have fitted parts to my car which I supplied them with. I've always found them to be very helpful and with very reasonable prices too, but £900 does seem a bit steep, though I don't know what Lexus would charge these days.

I had my cambelt, water pump, tensioners replaced by powerhouse for approx £550 about 2 months ago. I think they ordered a cambelt kit with all bits and I think they are all genuine parts. Not sure if they are local to you but its powerhouse in Camberley, ask for Colin.
