hi my is 220d does not start instantly when left over night, then in the space of driving it 200 yards it will loose power VSC, Traction and EML will come on. Put a code reader on it and it shows P0093 Major Fuel leak. If i clear the code it will run fine. engine does sound a little louder than normal and there is a slight hissing coming from the back of the engine when revs drop but you would have to listen for this closely.

Can anyone help / Advise please

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

With the symptoms you describe it sounds like air is getting into the fuel system, this will cause extended cranking before the engine fires and poor running until the air bleeds out via the injectors.

Check all your fuel pipes and unions particularly at the fuel filter (common point of problems on other diesel cars). If you don't find anything specific try smearing the joints with petroleum jelly which will seal any leaks and see if this improves performance, if it does look closer at the unions.

This has to be on the low pressure side as a high pressure leak would be fairly obvious by sight and smell.

Hi Adrian and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over.

I cant help with your present queries but I'm sure someone will be along ASAP.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later
