ls400 advice

Hi everyone. I'm mike from Merseyside new to this. I have a 98 gs300 that I bought a couple of months ago. I did originally want a ls400 but the one I went to view had a bad misfire so I bought the gs on the way home. Another ls400 around Liverpool has caught my attention and I was if it would be a good idea to purchase for a few hundred quid. I think it's a 94 plate (private reg) not that sure though. Iv been and spoke to the guy and he says it was his brothers that has been sat there for around 3/4 years. The fella I spoke to said they would let it go for a few hundred quid so just curious as to whether it would be a good idea to buy it.

Hi Mike and welcome to the LOC, we are a friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer left over.

From what you say it sounds like you need to give this a wide birth unless of course you have a deep pit of money. A car bought for a few hundred now can and probably will cost thousands. It doesn't take long to rack up the numbers.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm going to go and have a good look round it next week to see what it's like and I'm going to ask if he can hopefully get it started and running. Minor things like brakes and tyres are easy enough to do but the main thing is the body and if the engine actually starts and runs well. As I stated it was his brothers so he needs to find out info on the car. If it's not worth it il probably just hang around with my gs for a bit until I find a decent ls. Yeah I can imagine they can be money pits and my pockets ain't that deep, I was thinking it would be more of a project to be honest..but we shall see.
