When I stop in traffic the book says don't shift to neutral as the Battery won't charge, mine doesn't charge if I stop with the foot rake applied, everything is off, if I apply the parking brake the current then goes from the Battery to the wheels on the display so I assume it's actually using Battery power when stationary? If I shift to neutral all goes off!

what should I do ?

Hello, nothing. It sounds like it's working perfectly. the computer's on your car will sort out when it wants to charge the Battery and if it gets too low the engine will come in and start automatically or it will start if you turn on the air conditioning things like that. Unless someone knows different here .

Same happens in my GS 450h too. Nothing to worry about.

As mentioned its working fine.

Basically if you put the car in Neutral, I dont think the engine will come on if the Battery is discharging, whereas in PARK, itll come on automatically.
