Hi all. My 300 has just passed the 100k mark so have booked it in with my local garage (not Lexus) to get the cambelt changed. How much should it be costing give or take?

Thanks!

CAmbelt kit is about £120 to £150 on e-bay so add the labour cost to that! Lexus charge about £500 ish for my 400h

You can get all the parts at a Toyota parts counter:

Timing belt

Water pump & gasket

Tensioner

Aux belt

Spark plugs

Toyota Pink Coolant

And of course if you are doing a service at the same time, oil & filter and air & cabin filters.

I would thoroughly recommend getting the spark plugs changed at the same time when all the stuff is off the engine if you plan on keeping the car for the next 2+ years - all your major items are then taken care of for another 100k then! :)

After a quick look at my 2000 RX300 the cam belt change looks simpler than it was on my Rover 75 KV6 engine. is there any special (essential) tools needed?

Lexus will do the timing belt on an RX300 or RX400 for £295 under their Essential Care scheme for cars older than 5 years from new.

That doesn't include the water pump though and I've heard also not the tensioner and idler pullies!

Do all the RX300 have a belt or some have a chain ?

I think all the 300s did but not the 350...
