I have purchased a 2012 CT and although my tyre treads are ok at the moment I would be interested in finding out what tyres came with the car when bought new. I currently have Avon's on the front and yokahoma on the rear 17".

What are your thoughts on the best type to go for? I'm interested in winter tyres.

Sorry, I meant to say I'm not interested in purchasing winter tyres.

Chances are that they would have had Bridgestone's on when new

i have recommended the Dunlop Sport Maxx Rt's before based on a 215/45/17 tyre

fuel economy A rated

wet braking C rated

road noise 67Db

look at the tyre ratings labels as there is no reason to buy a tyre that reduces fuel economy

and a lot of them aren't good, fuel economy is a major factor in buying a hybrid ,

you will have the tyres for a long time so make the correct purchase.

the above tyres are £86.50 from kwik fit if you book online so price wise they wont break the bank

here is a link showing tyres and their ratings https://www.kwik-fit.com/tyres/search/results/215/45/17/W

My original bridgestones were about worn out by 30000 miles. They were legal but were beginning to loose their ability to handle standing water without the beginnings of aquaplaning. I then fitted Goodyear efficient grip tyres which are wearing similarly to the Bridgestones, provide slightly improved economy but seem to be able to deal with standing water better as they wear down. They have currently completed 24,000 miles and do not seem to have lost any efficiency, wet grip or quiet running ability despite wearing at a similar rate to the original Bridgestones. I am going to change these tyres at a round 60000 when I predict that they will have about 2 to 3 mm left on them. I read somewhere that the police do this to ensure tyre performance in all weathers and since they travel far more miles than I ever will, I assume this is an aspect of their work which they know what they're doing.

My 2013 car came with Yokohama DB e70. Fronts lasted about 28k and lease company replaced them with identical ones. Rears are less than half worn done 33k now.

My 2013 also has Yokohama's.

I've asked the Lexus dealer to fit Dunlop Sport Maxx, they came pretty close to Black Circles £83 fitted price, enough so as not to warrant two garage trips, when it goes in for it's MOT on Wednesdsay. I'll be very interested in the difference to the current rock hard and i feel quite noisy Yokohamas. I'll report back when I've had a chance to try them out. Had them on my Mercedes and they were very quiet, I'll put them back on after the winter months. Would have put on Michelin Cross Climates but they don't make them in 215 45 17. If they did I'd put them on in a flash, great tyres. Perhaps Michelin will increase sizes available.

Hiya

My opinion on Tyres...... There like Hifi speakers, we all hear things differently, Same with the way we drive cars all differently, some prefer grip against ride, some prefer wear to noise, its a minefield, the only good thing now is the newish tyre rating system, and too some degree recommendations, and of course price........ Me i prefer noise and ride quality then grip.

Thank you all so much for your replies, I have taken on board what you have suggested and will certainly save this for my research when it comes to changing my tyres
