Just about to get quotes for my car and one of the questions refers to the security device. It's asking me if it is a Thatcham Approved Cat 1 or cat 2.

How can I find this out please or does anyone know which if any, it is.

Have had a look in the manual but cannot see the identification there, unless I'm not seeing it!

Lexus usually fit their own security system which is unlikely to be Thatcham approved, there is normally an option to select manufacturer's own system on insurance enquiries.

May be worth a call to your dealer to confirm but this is what the AA have stated for the IS300h

"You pretty much get everything as standard here, which means keyless locking and ignition - a useful feature to remove the hassle of fumbling for a key in a dark car park. Deadlocks, an immobiliser and a comprehensive alarm system complete the defenses."

i always say manufacturer fitted therfore you aren't saying exactly what is fitted so no untruths can be told.

your insurance quote will always be based on the manufacturers specification anyway

You can check on Thatcham website whether it is Thatcham 1 or 2. From experience all Lexus are usually Thatcham 1 anyway
