Original Wheels? Losing My Nuts...

Hi all

I recently bought the Feb 2007 IS250 in the pic and have lost 4 wheel nuts from the front offside wheel in 3 weeks!! Firstly I noticed one nut laying next to the wheel when it was parked at my house so I replaced it and checked all of the others for tightness. Today I washed the car and noticed 3 nuts missing off the same wheel.

I'm not big into conspiracy theories but driving through a Paris underpass with 2 nuts holding a wheel on doesn't sound like my idea of fun.

I guess the questions are:

Is this a common issue?

Have I bought a car with the wrong wheel/nut combinations?

Are my wheels (16inch) original Lexus wheels or have they been swapped?

Thanks

Maybe the nuts are wrong thread size somehow?

I would order some aftermarket wheel nuts that are all keyed so you know they cannot be undone by anyone and are also the correct thread size wheel nuts

Thanks for the replies. I did some research and they are genuine Lexus wheels but the nuts are probably the wrong ones. Mine are definitely tapered with no flat or captive washer. Correct ones now ordered. Btw, I only found one nut next to the wheel, it was the locking wheel nuts so I've ruled out foul play...

I wouldn't rule out foul play. Locking wheel nuts aren't exactly hard to remove

Thought this was interesting. I guess it was easy for a previous owner to think that any wheel nut will do as long as the thread size matches.

Again, thanks for all the suggestions, I'll go round and check that all the nuts are the right type and re-torque them. If I lose any after that then I will become paranoid....
