Jacking Car From Rear

Is the rear jacking point on the differential ? I will.be using a floor jack. which point should I use , 1 or 2 (see picture please). Is there chance of damaging the drain plug ? Should i keep a piece of wood in between or is that not safe ? Thanks.

The correct jacking points are at the pinch welds on the sills, front and rear.

You can also put a jack under the diff (avoid the drain plug and don't put anything between the jack and diff) - and at the front you can use the centre of the crossmember in front of the oil pan.

John so it is safe to use the area next to the drain plug (near side) marked in yellow? My floor jack won't bend the fins?

The diff casing and the fins are very strong. Position the saddle carefully and centrally, with the car on level ground and you'll be fine. The saddle should fit in that square area of fins clear of the drain plug.
