Any opinion would be welcome ...

For a while now - and I suspect others do too sometimes - my RX makes a rumble sound, from the front?

I hear it when driving at slower speeds, straight, e.g., at 20 mph, but the road does not have to be particularly bumpy.

I suspect, based on reading and research, that it could be shock/top mount, related?

I am wondering... should I take it to my trusted independent garage, or should I take it to my equally trusted, local Lexus dealer.

It was bought from Lexus up North, about 9 months ago, and is still in its first year of Lexus warranty. So I'd rather keeps the costs down if possible...

Does anyone have a view?

Why pay an independent garage if the vehicle is under a Lexus warranty, if Lexus diagnose and then say "wear and tear, not covered" then go back to plan B.

I hear a similar sound sometimes on mine but it hasn't caused me any concern and it only happens occasionally at between 5-10mph, usually when accelerating from standstill.

I also have a similar sound but other than lower ball joint and antirollbar bushes on driver's front suspension, everything else has been changed/checked by me a month or so ago (I have new ARB bushes to fit still).

I did notice that my noise coincides with light throttle applied and is most noticeable when the driver's window is open - I'm now beginning to suspect it is an exhaust heat shield that rattles at a fairly specific low rpm... So may not be suspension related at all!!

To clarify it sounds more like a rumble or muffled rattle than a metallic rattle and on mine as soon as you brake/take foot off accelerator, it stops instantly...

Told it's a front OS shock.

To be changed under warranty this week.
