2007 Ls460 Centre Arm Rest Lid

Although I rented an hour's on line use of the Lexus Technical Manual for £3 today, the technical drawings and remove and refit process didn't actual tell me how to separate the actual centre arm rest/lid from the centre console itself.

It looks like the hinge mechanism hides behind the rear vent panel somehow. Has anybody ever had need to remove the centre arm rest lid. I want to remove mine either to replace it or have it re coloured due to wear and tear where your arm rests naturally when you drive the car. There are some minor defects too in the leather's surface.

Not a regular event but if someone has split the lid from the console I would love to know what to do. Thanks to anyone that might reply with some tips.

From what I can see the rear vent is held in with 3 spring clips so gentle prising with a wallpaper scraper should release it and the cigar lighter as one unit,once removed the hinge should be visible along with the fixing screws.
