Hi all im new here and thought id see if anyone has had this problem before.

My 2000 plate IS200 key fob stopped unlocking i guessed it was the Battery gone because for a while before hand it was getting slower to unlock and then red light finally went out. I changed the Battery like for like and still nothing not even the red light was working i got a different brand Battery still nothing i then got my spare key which was dying, tried the batteries in that one but still nothing is working can anyone help?

I don't know about your car but I've had some experience with batteries. Button cells have often expired before the customer gets them. Especially if the shop's turnover is small. So they could both have been dead before they were fitted.

Can you get a voltmeter to check a "new" cell to see it is OK before fitting it?

The shop I would got to for button cells certainly has a meter and would check them if I asked.

I assume you put them in the correct way round. Putting them in the wrong way round would certainly result in no response.

Checked both batteries at work one was at 1v the other was 1.5v so ordered two more they were both reading over 3v and now the keys work perfectly =) thanks for your help John I wouldn't have thought it was new batteries that were dead especially that they were both from different shops! Thanks again.

Glad to have been of help.

Talked to friend this morning. He routinely buys button cells from amazon and has not had a bad one. Big turnover we guess

He also keeps his spare ones in the fridge.
