I have just got a gs300 1998 after finally giving up on my merc c200. Picked it up last night from London and drove back down via kent.

I was pleased with the 35mpg from my first drive of 450 miles (Including 50 urban) Brim to brim figure, which was better than I was expecting. Overall I'm kicking myself I didn't change sooner.

One question, is there a way of making the power steering a little heavier?

Hi David and welcome to the LOC, we are a
friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and
put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer
left over.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins
looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later.

David,

35mpg seems excellent to me. I didn't do long runs very often with my '98 GS and I didn't check its consumption. It was comfortable and quiet though so you got out not exhausted.

Is your '98 GS300 red with 120k+ miles by any chance?

No green, 132k. My family is well spaced, round trips to see them are 400 miles min, up to 2,000 (france). With age and injuries I need a comfortable car. Since I brought it as a trade in it with new MOT it wasn't sorted, faults so far are wing mirrors fading and rear cup holder jammed. I think I can live with those until I sort them. :innocent:
