Is it worth getting castol 0w5 (golden container) or should I stick to usual castor 5w30 A1/A5 (green container)?

thanks.

I doubt that it makes any odds. 0W-30 might theoretically give you slightly better lube on a cold start but they'll both be effectively the same when warm.

And now your car is 7 years old you will really not notice any difference whatsoever..

I use Dexos2 - a GM 5W-30 oil - meets the specs of lots of major manufacturers including GM and all the German makes and I presume the Japanese manufacturers, who seem to be less fussed about all the ridiculous variants. I use it in all the fleet I look after at the mo - my own IS250 and MX-5, my wife's Seat Mii and daughter's Mazda3 (and a Peugeot 306 until recently). Perfect in all of them over many years and it's dead cheap on eBay.

The key is to change oil and filter regularly - at least twice as often (half the mileage) as the manufacturers service specs.

I also use fully synthetic dexos2 5w 30 from Vauxhall for my car. Cheapest I could find anywhere.

Use it for my IS250 and the wife's SEAT Mii.

I use Magnatec A5 5w30. Its not mega expensive, £18-20 for a 4 liter bottle.

Thanks all.

z28dunc where do you get that price from ? ECP sells it for 24 and 10percent drop makes it about 22.

I'm in the trade so I get it cheaper £16.50 ish + VAT. Asda did have it in stock under £20 but I've just checked and its no longer available.

It is. :driving:

They always say while stocks last, but I buy a box every year and do all the family's cars.

Very good deal, is that available over the counter at main dealers, or if Delivered only, how much for postage?

Vauxhall dealers do a trade deal - strictly (?) trade only - then it's roughly that price, but if you go in as a punter it is much more expensive. Incidentally, AutoVaux is not a Vauxhall dealer - it is completely independent.

There are sellers on eBay for 4 x 5litres for less than £60, with free postage. I think they are mostly pretty closely linked to Vauxhall dealers - either actual dealers or mechanics or other employees doing a moonlight.

Thanks for that John, just looked and there are plenty of good oil deals on there.

I don't know why castol website suggests o use 0w30 edge. So I ignore this and use Magnetic 5w30?

BTW made a typo in the subject.
