How Unlucky Can You Get!

Recommended Posts

Look what happened when Lexus meets BADGER!!

I was Coming home about 00-30 in the early hours, Pitch Black, Unlit Road, No other Traffic, had got up to 40/50 mph when suddenly, out of the corner of my Right Eye I 'just' saw it - A very large Badger - No time to react, and I gathered it up initially with the front Bumper, then a mighty 'BANG' and under my front Offside wheel it went and Backwards underneath and out of the rear, car has covered only 500 miles!!

Stopped, but couldn't see a thing - Drove home and then saw the damage.

Took car to Lexus Stoke for them to Access Damage (told Insurance I may pay if not too expensive) - but it was - Approx £1600 - New Complete Bumper, Grille and fixings, New Offside Fog light, possibly sensors and Painting!!

Excellent service from both Lexus and my Insurance Company (LV) - no arguments or disputes.

Back on Road all work complete and looking Excellent in less than 10 days.

How unlucky can you get? As unlucky as the poor old badger, perhaps? But i lost my first IS250 SE-L while stationary, as a result of a collision between two cars ahead of me (one driver was attempting a three point turn in the dark on an unlit main road, and the driver the other was not looking at the road ahead. Sometimes there is really nothing that you can do to avoid it!

I always thought that new cars with damage were replaced not repaired?

Only if they have significant damage.

Wife's IS is going tomorrow. Damage on the IS is worse than yours with initial bill coming at £4k. However they've looked at it properly and bill is actually £2300 as door and a pillar don't need changing.

Only changes here are fender and bumper for me. I am also with LV under the highway name and no problems

Sturdy, Solid animals are Badgers, this is the second time in my driving years I have hit one - In both cases, I have stopped, but could not see the Animal anywhere!!!

Hit and run badger...

I once hit something whilst driving an Impreza Turbo down a country lane - rather too quickly due to youthful stupidity.. No damage but a blood splat on the front lip lip of the bonnet. I stopped straight away and got out of the car - nothing there. I didn't think to look up. As I turned to get back into the car a Pheasant dropped vertically from the sky about 20 yards behind me. It must of reached some altitude given the time between hit and drop down...

Some years ago, my father wrote his Mercedes off and spent three weeks in hospital following a collision with a wild boar in northern France. He also got a fine for illegal destruction of wild game (something like that), on the basis that there were warning signs everywhere and that he was driving too fast!
