Ground Effects Kit - Availability

Hi all,

I am sorry if this has already been discussed but:

When shopping for an IS250 I decided to get the SE-L model and add the Ground Effects kit to it, rather than get an SR just for it's looks.

Lexus have now discontinued the kit as an OEM accessory. I had been watching a couple of eBay sellers in the US who offered PU copies of the front and rear lips at around $150 each.

These very items have recently jumped up to $400 for some reason!?

Now I am stuck, struggling to find the parts anywhere. Can anyone help at all?

Really only want the OEM looking parts, nothing more garish etc.

Cheers, rear one is the problem, its the front.

The front you have posted here is not the OEM Ground Effects one......... :-(

Have you tryed a breakers yard for complete front and rear sport bumber.

Have contacted Lexus Official eBay Store, hoping they can search the country for residual stock.

breaker yards are not the place to go for lexus stuff, parts are hard enough to get from shops themselves without resorting to importing.

So, I contacted the official Lexus eBay shop and after some email tennis I have good news, and I have bad news.

GOOD: They can send me an OEM GFX front spoiler from the UK warehouse to my local dealership within 3 days.

BAD 1: Its not pre painted

BAD 2: They want £293!!

Robbery IMO. About to play the LOC Gold Membership......see how that goes down.

£293 seem reasonable considering is a Genuine Lexus Part.

Just annoying that you can get it in the US for $275 and it comes painted 😞

Yes. You need to consider two factors. 1. Here in the UK Lexus is a relatively rare brand compared to its status in the USA. So prices reflect the market. 2. Lexus is a Premium brand which again is reflected in the price of servicing and parts. I never understand why people buy a premium car then complain about the cost of the aftercare.

Yes I've started this thread complaining about the price of this item, but that's only because I was benchmarking it against suppliers in the US.

Please don't mistake me for someone that you have just described. I've owned a Lexus for 8-9 yrs and always fitted genuine parts and serviced with a Toyota specialist.

I was surprised given the items size that's all.

Next time I'm on holiday in the US I think I'll courier a painted one back to myself.

I think someone on here has actually taken bits of the GFX Kit as part of their luggage from the USA when it first came out !
