Keyless Entry Fob

Hi newbie here.Just bought a 250 is 07 plate.stupidly I didnt check until after the sale how many keys were present.

is there a cheaper way to obtain a new one other than the 500 quid that lexus want .Its only for piece of mind and will probably never get used.

Hi Andrew and welcome to the LOC, we are a
friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and
put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer
left over.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins
looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later

Afraid its not good news .... there's no way of obtaining a second key and re-programming it without the aid of main dealer help. You can buy a cheap second key from the likes of eBay and take to dealer to program it and that way it will cost around £300 or so but you will need to get the key itself (located inside the fob) cut to match the car.

In hindsight - not what you want to hear probably - but it would have been a good bargaining point to get the price of the car reduced.

Make sure you have the master key (3 button)

Thanks for the reply. I've got the master key ( 3 button one) and have rang loads of independent auto electricians who have said that coding the key isn't the issue its the price of the fob from Lexus.

They want £347 plus vat. Plus programming.

Absolutely devistated I am only had the car 24hours and it's taken the joy out of me georgeous car.

Hi and welcome I made same mistake as you didn't really know much about lexus had to get it from lexus main stealers at cost of 300 Inc fob and programme but without internal key cut.next time will make sure it's got 2 keys, fob from eBay can't be reprogrammed. I learnt hard way by paying £300
