Engine Light On And Misfiring

Hi I am not new but had to re register coz of new Email ...

My problem is the engine warning light is on and the engine is misfiring, however it only happens occasionally. I used a code reader which states cylinders 1 and 5 have a misfire. I changed the plugs and all was well, but today the same thing has happened again,although after a couple of miles it cleared itself, engine light stayed on continuously, not flashing.

Should I try replacing the coil packs on cylinders 1 and 5. My car is an is200 sportcross on an 05 plate. Any help would be great,thanks....

Misfire can happen also for other causes, for instance dirty fuel injectors , try also with a injectors fuel cleaner to next fueling.

A fuel injector issue commonly causes multiple cylinder misfire error codes on the IS200 engine, this is more likely than two coil packs failing at the same time.

As Zotto stated above try some injector cleaner, although that doesn't always fix injector issues, and try moving the coil packs, e.g. move cylinder 1 or cylinder 2 to see if the error code moves to help diagnose the issue - cheaper than just purchasing new coil packs.

I put redex injector cleaner in yesterday, aint really done any mileage since tho. Maybe take it for a good run after work one night. Thanks for the help guys, always a good idea to go with the cheapest option first, and will swap the coils over to see if the misfire moves with them..

i had a slight misfire and resetting the EC cured it, always worth doing anyway
