TL fun

What was your worst ever car.

Mine was a Vauxhall Astra that smoked when you stick your foot down and I braked once and the heaadlight popped out and slid down the road. When i went to pick up the headlight some A*shole ran over it for a laugh!

Worst car owned:

Mark II Escort. It pulled to one side and was erratic under breaking, I ripped one front wing on a concrete post, I had to get a new engine when the piston rings went and I often had to get other students in my hall to push start it. (Finally took it to a garage and the mechanic showed me a sticky black ring and said - that was an air filter once...)

When I first bought it the back seat was loose so I bolted it down but not well enough. First time I drove it with a couple of mates in the back and braked hard they and the seat flew forward into a heap behind me. :D

Had a nice gear change though. I never found a gear change to match it until the IS200.

Worst cars driven but not owned:

Talbot Horizon. Huge gear lever and it was a lottery which gear it ended up in.

Vauxhall Corsa - Vauxhall dealer's courtesy car. Appalling handling, no brakes, no engine, awful steering and you kill your back reaching for the seat belt. What is that woman in the TV advert on about?! If you drove a corsa like she suggests you'd be in a ditch.

my last car was my worst.

1998 BMW 328, black metallic, full M-tech body kit, M suspension, etc. It was only just 2 years old with 1 previous owner when i got it, and on average cost £600 a month to keep

bits kept falling off or malfunctioning - it was in at the dealers at least twice a month

anyway, i only had it 6 months and then managed to write it off in an accident (after just spending £1600 on a service & new tyres   )

man - never ever am i having a BMW again.

my is200 is the best, but i've very good memories of my lovely 1984 Astra 1.3L in bright red - that was a grand first car :D

Hey Sammy.. never realised you had an NSX.. wow.. what a nice motor that is... *drools*

Talking of hondas, the best car that i liked the most was a mark 1 Honda prelude.. man that car was so faithfull and i was a pig to it. In the end it died of rust and i could not get no more filler on the car... but the engine was still real good. I drove around the whole country in that car.

Thanks..... and yeah - I've a real leaning to the sporting Hondas, and the NSX is really special!

lol - I seem to have become 500x more attractive to men around here since I got it! heehee.

Only thing is... so has the boyfriend when he drives her too!

My worst car was a 1981 Triumph Acclaim in old man beige, SAU 481X. It had one elderly owner from new until I bought it in 1997, and it took me three hours to blow three out of four exhaust valves!! I think the car had been used to doing 30mph max, because when I took it up the M1 at 95mph it took exeption! Two days after I got it back on the road, it jammed in 1st gear - new gearbox. My dad reversed into on the drive and buckled the wing and bonnet, then I drove it into a hedge while attempting a right angled bend at 50mph. I finally gave up on the car when I cracked the sump driving down a farm track. I hated every minute of that car:mad:

My dad had a Triumph Acclaim Triomatic (sort of half automatic), had few problems with it and sold it after two years for the same that he bought it for. It was completely gutless though especially with that gearbox. I remember he also got it up to 95 once and something broke. :D

You would need your wipers on if you drove near me with the NSX.. i would be drooling over it... I have always loved the NSX.. I like Honda alot!

hehe - nice to know a fellow fan! I have loved and dreamed of owning an NSX ever since its launch in 1990 - so as you can imagine, even though I was chuffed to bits when my new IS200 was delivered not last saturday, but the saturday before..... the fact that I was buying the NSX the following saturday, sort of overshadowed it! It is indeed a dream come true for me - I love that car - the curves are just stunning, and driving.... well - I suppose this isn't the place to start waxing lyrical over a Honda.......

Forgot where I was.

My IS200 has now done 700 miles, and I am starting to venture closer to that redline...... :tumble:

I used to have a flintstone car, the bottom fell out and you used you feet !

Escort 1300

Cavalier 1600 GSI

Metro ( I was possessed by the Devil )

Exscort Estate

Mat, once broke the strutts on a new rover V8 in Cyprus! ( pot hole jumping)

Orion Ghia

Volvo 440( had to get rid of it I didn't have a flat cap)

Driven TVR Cebera 4.2 not that good.

I have done 0-120mph in less than 1 second( parachute, before it opened)

Used to ride in a highly charged armoured V8 rover. ( with bricks being thrown at me)!

Now its the quiet life with my IS200sport/supercharged.

Worst Car? - Umm, had a few...

FIAT (Fixed It Again Today) '97 Punto GT Turbo (Black). For 3 months it went like a rocket, the next 18 months it was in the garage being "fixed"! - repeatedly for spitting its coolant out when idling in traffic - then overheating and making some very strange noises from the engine. Also had the nice side effect of being on full boost at standstill in traffic.

The iconic '93 Clio 16V was great until the power assitance hose for the breaks split at 85 mph on the M1. All the fluid was instantly vapourised on the cat, the cars following me went thro' a mile long fog patch. Still it had the best seats of any car Ive driven. And more dials to watch than any car this side of a Aston.

The slippery '97 Mazda 323 1.8 Exec. Had the oddest gear ratio ever, was a sloth up until 80 mph then went like a rocket to 120mph....

The boy racer '99 Saxo 1.6 VTS had the worst seats of any car I've had.....But the most sublime suspension setting for B french roads.

My Cars:

1 - MG Metro (the worst car in the world)

2 - Renault Clio 1.9D (slow and noisy)

3 - Peugeot 306 DTurbo (great car)

4 - Lexus IS200 Sport (my best car yet, despite some probs)

*****, such a battle in my list for worst car, but here goes with the list, you decide which was worst :D

MkII Escort estate (back wheel fell off after I overtightened the wheel nuts)

Renault 18 estate (the shape of the dashboard meant the clocks melted in strong sunlight)

MkIV Cortina (I bought it in the dark + I'm colour blind, didn't realise the front was brown and the back was red)

MkII Escort 1.6 (Parked it upside-down on a bus stop)

Mini Clubman (actually pretty good)

Mini 1430 (very good, but learnt 2 valuable lessons: if you drastically change the power output of your vehicle, drum brakes are not a good idea and theft insurance is worth it's weight in gold when you've sunk over £1000 into the engine on parts alone)

Vauxhall Firenza 2300 (I loved this car, but so did the rust, yellow with a black vinyl roof looked like a mini-muscle car)

Ford Cortina 2.3 Ghia (later installed a 2.8 from a written off Capri, learnt to hate fuel injection)

Citroen Visa 1.7D (don't laugh it would sit at 100 on the motorway all day sounding like it was ticking over)

Mini 1000 (leaking master cylinder, couldn't arsed to fix it, just used the handbrake everywhere)

Vauxhall Cavalier SRi (used to die for no apparent reason)

Lada 1600 (really old one, wooden dash, all the guages were in Russian, I fitted a FIAT 2.0L twin cam, sold it to a Lithuanian)

Cavalier 1.6 (bought for £50 with MOT, needed piston rings badly, looked like James Bond smokescreen. I used to keep the oil at the minimum mark to reduce smoke, for some reason the cam seized in the head)

Astra 1.3 (had been rear ended by a transit van, but drove great)

Mazda 626 (I don't know why, but my friends started calling me Dr Patel)

1996 Escort 1.4 (horrible, horrible, was on irish plates and I used to get pulled up all the time)

Toyota Carina-E GTi (a very under-rated car, has the 175bhp motor from the MR2)

Toyota Carina-E TurboD (boooooorrrrrriiiiiiiiiiiinnnnggggg)

Rover 620Ti (very fast, no handling whatsoever, made it feel 10x faster)

Vectra 2.0 SRi (ate gearboxes, but I actually loved this car)

Vectra 1.8SRi (was quite nice, but too slow)

Lexus IS200 (still got)

Clio 1.6Si (still got, think it was made on a Friday afternoon, everything electrical has failed at some point)

On top of this I've had several bikes:

Honda SS50

Honda C50

Honda CB100

Yamaha RD125LC

Yamaha TZR125

Suzuki RGV250

Suzuki GSX-R600 (still got)

I know you said you change your cars frequently but that's some list! (I've had 5 cars in 14 years - I just don't compete!)

Posted

Toyota Corolla Sedan 1.6 -93 was my first and worst car.

I have owned the following cars:

- Toyota Corolla 01/1999 - 06/1999

- Toyota Avensis 06/1999 - 02/2000

- Lexus IS200 2000 (Millennium Silver) 02/2000 - 01/2002

- Lexus IS200 2002 (Intensa Blue Pearl) - My current ride

Lexus IS200 is the best car I've ever driven, the 2nd best is probably GS300. (IS200 is fun to drive, GS300 is quiet, and moves like a train...)
