Hi everyone. After years of thinking it would never happen I took the plunge and bought a tatty 15 year old IS200 S.

Definitely a project car, not only joining the Lexus owner collective but bringing one back to good condition instead of heading slowly but surely for the scrappy :)

Now I have work to do. But I'll keep before and after for everything I do and hopefully have a lovely example ready in no time.

Hello, welcome to the LOC and congratulations on buying your 1st Lexus.

Don't worry about the age mine is 22 in January, the oldest and the longest I ever owned a car.

Thanks

It feels awesome and surreal to say I own a Lexus. Such a connotation with luxury :)

For reference (not just to bloat my own thread) this will be enthusiastically worked on in my spare time. I love getting dirty.

Previous cars owned:

Ford Escort (family first car hand me down)

Hyundai Lantra (commuter, no problems, no desire to upgrade)

90s Rover Metro (restored paint, annoyed Corsas)

'71 VW Beetle (restored rusted body, stripped interior, paint, imported engine, cal look detailing, set up for show and dragged at 14 seconds / quarter mile)

mk 3 Golf (massive money pit with continuous mechanical failures, sadly scrapped)

Renault Clio (hand me down, passed on)

VW Sharan VR6 (engine blew within 24 hours, too expensive to swap, returned to dealer)

Lexus IS200 S (needs; entire brake system refit, rust on body and interior/footwell bolts etc for some reason.. paintwork and some panel replacements inc. front/rear bumper covers and wing mirrors, potentially new diff, stiffer/slightly suspension, better flow exhaust, fix/replace CD player as won't accept/eject discs but no error message and no setting reset appears to work)

Posted

*slightly lower suspension (not going for a stanced look, just a sportier profile)

Hi and welcome to the LOC, we are a
friendly bunch and some of us even know how to pull them to bits and
put them back together again, with of course the one bolt and washer
left over.

We recommend you spend a couple of mins
looking over the rules of the LOC, we will be asking questions later.

Pictures? Okay. Here's the front and back, as bought.

Wheels are my biggest gripe but I may go for a respray after I've T-cut and polished the whole body. We'll see.
