Hi,

Does anyone know if Lexus allow you to extend the servicing intervals on the GS450h to 12.5k if you complete a lot of motorway driving? I know when I was previously looking at the IS300h (I didn't fit :-( ), I was told a 12.5k interval was available for fleet drivers or those doing a lot of motorway driving.

2.5k extra may not sound a lot, but when you are doing over 20k miles a year, it starts to add up.

Thanks,

SW

Unlikely as its not written in the service book whereas its specifically in the IS service book. Still worth asking the dealer though.

Im surprised you didn't fit in an IS300h, Im 6 ft 2 and still have space to go back or up! :P

6ft4 here and I must be a strange shape. With the IS, my head is touching the roof, even with the seat on the lowest setting. Seems to be a problem I have with a lot of cars.

I'm looking at replacing my E-Class which I fit in easily with a GS.

I guess I will have to put up with servicing the car every 5 months if I get a GS and swallow the cost. I'm expecting it will make my MB servicing seem cheap.

Here service interval is every 15.000 km. (less than 10000 miles), with a intermediate and complete service alternating.

Intermediate is basically a change of oil and filters.

Asked the dealer and was told it was specially for the IS on fleet purchases. Wasn't a showstopper in my purchase but does mean my servicing costs will be a bit more than my current Mercedes... and it will be in the workshop more often.

Do you get a discount if you get a service plan or is it simply a way of spreading the cost?

If there are not legal issues about warranty, at least intermediate servicing can be done by any repairer, or even DIY.

Lexus have service plans, and usually you can spend a bit less.

Official servicing is not so cheap, but the overall service costs in life for hybrid cars are MUCH lower compared to traditional cars, brake pads last twice, no turbines and other components that can break.

Considering I got over 60k miles out of the front discs and pads on my Mercedes, I guess I might not require to replace them on the Lexus for quite a while.

At the moment to change my previous Hybrid GS 450h, to have cheaper costs, I decided to buy a GS 300h , expecially thought for fleets , less thirsty engine and with services prices like IS 300h or NX 300h; of course power is 120 HP less and max speed is only 120 mph (limited for technical reasons), but if you care for maintenance costs it could be a valid alternative to 450h, that is quite a fast car.

It seems in the UK the servicing costs for the GS hybrid is the same across the range.

Therefore the only extra cost is insurance (a 1 year old GS450h is actually cheaper the insure than my 5 year old Mercedes E350cdi) and fuel. Most of my milage is business milage and easily covers the MPG of the 450h. This is the reason I've bought a 450h

If you don't care for mileage, GS450h has all the power you need and even more ;-) , I bouught a 300h also because I could never use all the power my former 450 had; enjoy it.
