Got a shiny new Battery from Toyota today as my old one was flat. Connected new Battery and the horn started sounding. Managed to switch this off by pressing unlock on the remote.

Then went to start the car and it just cranks.

Tried several 'dance routines' mentioned on several forums, but none of them work.

anyone any ideas?

Dont shoot me down in flames but have you charged the new Battery up to see if that makes any difference or do you know where you can get a charged Battery and use some jumper leads. Mike.

Was a brand new Battery I put in.

I've fixed it :)

Turned out someone had fiddled with the wires going to the ignition/immobiliser and one had snapped!

Why can't people who have no clue just keep their chubby fingers OFF a car :tsktsk:

Because we all know better than anyone else and we don't want to admit when we've got it wrong.
