Have I Blown A Fuse Or Not?

Hello everyone.

New member since today. Thought this would be the best place to get an honest answer.

Earlier this week I plugged an inverter into my cigar lighter to charge my laptop.

All went well for an hour or so, but I wanted to check how far I had to go on the recharge, so I switched my laptop on.

I unfortunately left my laptop plugged in to the inverter and blew a fuse.

Simple I thought, replace fuse and continue, remembering NOT to switch it on again whilst still plugged in.

Hmm. After replacing a 25amp fuse, nothing on my centre console is working! (That was the only fuse I found had blown.)

No clock, heater/AC controls, radio or cigar lighter. What have I done? Is there another/bigger fuse I haven't found yet?

I asked a workshop if it was a relay, they said unlikely and have suggested a 'couple of hours' in the workshop and they'll sort it!

Couple of hours could be expensive!!

Your thoughts, ideas and, hopefully, solutions would be much appreciated.

Thanks and regards.

Hello and welcome to the LOC.

There is normally a fuse marked "CIG" rated at 7.5A in the internal fuse box located under the driver's side dash.

May be worth checking all the fuses in there while you're at it as some others also feed the radio.

My apologies Steve, I finally found the fuse box exactly where you said it would be! Very small cover, only about 4" x 3" so I put down not being able to spot it, to a senior optical moment!!

First fuse I removed was the culprit! Everything back in working order.

Thanks again.
