Hello guys,

I have a problem. Our 2001 LS430 Premium has been off the road for 1 month, so I decided to go and start it up today.

However the Battery is flat.

I just discovered that the drivers lock will not unlock, just turns around doing a click and nothing more. On the passenger door there is no key hole...

So what do I do now??? :( I can open the boot as the lock is working there. But the Battery is placed in the engine bay :(

Any help would be appreciated Cheers.

Ok sorry to be daft...

so I put the positive of the spare Battery on the boot light? (do I worry where it goes?)

And then I put the negative of the spate Battery somewhere on the metal of the boot area.

That's the one! I remembered the same problem having been posted up before but couldn't remember what the method was.

Basically you will need to oull out the boot light unit and find the +12 volt feed to it ( there are normally only 2 wires, the other goes to earth/chassis.

Obtain a 12 Volt car Battery ( or move another car close by) and use jump leads.

Connect the negative terminal of the Battery to the chassis/earth/metalwork of the Lexus and then the positive supply to the boot light positive terminal ( be very careful not to cause a short circuit doing this)

You should then have enough power to open the doors.

Having looked at the circuit diagram the wire colour you need to connect the red positive jump lead on the boot light should be red

I am charging a spare old car Battery I have to give me enough juice to do this.

So basically I will look for the red cable on the boot light to connect the red jump lead

And black jump lead on the chassis and pray! lol :)

unfortunatelly... the spare Battery is a no go :( it proved to be faulty.

So I will remove the Battery from the GS300 to try and use it to unlock the LS430 :)

Well I tried a Battery jump start booster to start with ... and this didn't do anything.

I then plugged in the GS300 Battery and connected to the cables of the light .... still nothing no life what so ever :(

I even connected it to the boot latch anywhere I could think of.

And there is no life what so ever :( :(

any ideas guys?

Did you leave it connected for a while?

It might take some time to get the power round

Well I had it connected for 2 hrs!! no luck what so ever!

I put in WD40 and loads of patience the lock.

After I have given it about 3-4 fists lol almost bruised my hand... and a few more attempts! THE KEY WORKED!!! hurray!

I opened the bonnet and connected the jump start pack (although it is meant to be for a 2lt engine, it managed to turn it around no problem and started the car :) so pleased. :)

After I started the car I checked the boot lights and both work with no problems therefore (my assumption) of a broken connection was not valid.

For some reason my car did not like that unlocking technique :(
