Hi All,

just bought an 09 reg from another member of the forum up in Leeds earlier this week! Busy at work so havent had the chance to drive her since collecting...I suspect not until Tuesday I'll be able to take her out..Grrr

By the way, what do you guys think of the Lexus service plan? Is it worth it?

Cheers,

Derrick

That would be Leicester, not Leeds, Derrick ;)

We're further north than London, but not that far!

I've bought the service plans as I calculated that they work out cheaper than paying each time. Also, I get a free 6 monthly check in between the annual services. I'm not sure if the 6 monthly check is a standard Lexus thing, or part of the service pack, but it adds evidence of how well mine has been looked after over the last 5 years.

It depends really. I considered it but didn't in the end. Managed to get good lot of the 60k service as well so was the correct decision for me. With Lexus now stabilising prices across all their garages it may well be a good option as ability to haggle is diminished.

Welcome :)

Thanks guys! My wife has a plan on her Lexus RX400H and the service is great and the predictable cost gives peace of mind. Seeing that the 60k major service will be due on my F at some point next year then I'll go for it. She gets a Lexus courtesy car for a tenner a day and that also may come in handy for me as work can be unpredictable. You never know they may give me an RCF for a day when it goes in for its next service...lol!!!

I can’t help but think of this Alan Partridge clip now that we have 2x Lexus at my home: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YllyBr_4Kxk

P.S I may pop down to the Bluewater meet!

I'll contact Lexus over the next couple days so no harm in asking about the free replacement and free 6-monthly check. cheers guys!

Hey guys...a quick update on this just in case anyone is considering a service plan when the major 60k service is due....Lexus initially quoted me £930 to cover a 3yr service plan, however this excluded the major 60k service which covers changing spark plugs etc for which they wanted me to pay an extra £875...to which I politely declined and refrained from swearing! :)

Anyways, after a few minutes of further deliberations, I was quoted £1418 for a 3-yr service plan which included the two major services (60k & 80k) and a standard 70k service which takes me to 2018 ( I suspect that I'll change her before 2017 as I've got my eyes on the Mustang 5.0 GT within 2yrs)....anyways, I'm going to see them later this evening and wondered what you guys think about this offer? thanks fellas! appreciate your feedback!

That seems good as buys you the major service at under 600. Assume the unused element is easily refundable?

I believe it is, i do know however that it is transferable so will help when comes to sell...cheers Stuno1!

Im pretty sure the 80k is not a major one.. i was told by Lexus Hull.. if my memory serves me right its the 30, 60 and 100k that are the major ones.. the link to the price list is on the forum somewere, it shows you the service prices for most Lexus inc the ISF.

Lexus' computer says:

60k is full+

70k is intermediate

80k is full

also waiting to hear from my local Lexus specialists about costs and whether they've serviced any IS-F's (I know they can easily say yes and can't prove this)

Me personally, I wouldn't use main dealers, there's a specialist near me, half the cost n twice as good, like I say, that's "me personally" I don't trust main dealers, it wouldn't bother me if the history had "Lexus specialist alternative" service stamp. Don't get me wrong, not "formula 1 or kwik fit" lol. Give you an idea, my 60k is due next month, they want £450 compaired to £890 Lexus want.

But its up to the individual

Yeh i kinda agree with you on that..

In the case of the ISF, because its such a rare car do you think when it comes to selling people might get put off if it was a specialist servicing it?

What you guys think?

We had a good chat and it depends. Not having flsh will definitely limit the appeal of the car as it does with any car but it's down to the individual to decide if it's a route they want to go down. It's all about perception and people percieve the dealer will do the best job, especially on performance cars.

I'm hoping a full set of service stamps and health check reports, all from Lexus Chester, over 5 years will help me sell mine in the next few months. Hopefully it paints a picture of '1 careful owner'.

It may speed up the sale or enable a higher price. Or both. Or neither; it will be hard to tell

I spend a lot of time in France and have been quoted 649€ for the 60,000 service, which is the 'official' Toyota/Lexus price.

This, today, equates to £471 and with a cheap ferry deal for a couple of days, a trip to Toyota Calais could be profitable and keep the other half happy at the same time.

Just a thought.

That's very cheap. Make sure they give you the 8 old spark plugs back to check they have all been changed (part number FK20HBR11) as the 2 rear o/s are a pig and need all the fuse assembly and other bits removing to get to them. Plus on their own they are about £300 and 2.5 hours to change (Lexus also check valve clearance while they are out but not sure if its necessary).

Guys, for general info - after consideration, I've gone with the service plan from Lexus for convenience (on my route to work and relativity close to home), peace of mind and potential resale value of the vehicle. 3yrs free MOT, free courtesy car and free car wash (unlimited) is also included in the aforementioned price.

thanks all.
