Fluid Change Automatic Box

Hi Everyone,

I have a 2003 IS200 with the automatic gearbox and I have always known toyota/lexus autos to be very smooth.

Mine is smooth but shifting from 1st to 2nd is becoming slightly jerky (2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th I cant even tell when it changes)

Is it just because its a low gear that it will be a bit jerky or does it need a fluid change?

I would have this checked out at a garage, the simplest thing you could do it change the transmission fluid and see if this fixes it?

I had a manual (from another manufacturer) and the 1st/2nd gear changes were clunky, i had the transmission oil changed and it fixed that issue for me. I'm not saying this will fix yours because yours is an auto so could be other factors.

The IS200 auto box isn't the smoothest but probably still probably worth a fluid change, even if things don't improve it could prevent things getting worse.

thanks for the replies everyone,

went to my local garage to book it in for a cambelt and asked them to check the gearbox fluid at the same time :) more money!
