Machine Gun Sound

I have had this problem since owning car, the best way to discribe it at the moment.

Its a fast pulsating noise, now we had a bad downfall of rain yesterday, could it be a brake sensor when wet.

It does it while driving and stood still, turning stearing wheel makes no difference.

If it does it whilst driving AND stood still then it must be in the engine compartment as the only moving parts when stationary are under the bonnet.

It does not do it all the time came home from work and nothing at all. It is hard to discribe when i go to work tonight it will be dry see if its only doing it when its wet. If it is then i am narrowing it down its a bloody annoying sound can be herd over stereo.

Heat insulation plate on the exhaust making contact with body on the underside somewhere?????

They are quite easily bent back a tad...quite a soft metal

Right started car to come home noise there again. Tapped front parking sensors all quiet all the way home so water is the problem.

Are they easy to remove.
