Fuel Flap

Dear All

I recently had to look a bit of a fool at the old petrol pump, went for the release catch and went round to find .....Flap still shut. tight ...So off to dealer with still enough fuel, for mechanics to fix

Question: Can you if the need must get at this catch release from inside the boot???? Havent tried yet.

I know in my gs there is a handle in the boot that you pull to open the flap.

Probably have to remove the boot liner.

The GS has a release inside the boot but that is because the inside release is electric and not mechanical so is more likely not to work (flat Battery etc.)

The Soarer has a 'tag' in the boot that you can pull in an emergency, but there's no sign of one in the IS, and no mention of an emergency release in the User Manual. As Colin says, there might be something under the boot liner?

So how can i fix the release of the fuel flap so that it will open when pulled? Who knows something? We have the same problem in the Euro-Forum.

Try spraying the solenois & the hinge on the flap with WD40 it worked for me.

what can sometime happen is that the little spring inside the door that pushes the fuel flap breaks, so the fuel flap stays shut, what u have to do if have someone pull the flap open when you are also pulling the fuel flap lever up.
