Keyfob/remote Locking Problem

Recommended Posts

Hi all

I'm a newbie in need of some help.

I have a 2004 RX300 SE-L. After changing the car Battery, my key fobs no longer work. The actual keys work. So I can open/close the doors by putting the key in the lock on the drivers door. I also can drive the car.

However, when I push a button on the remote it doesn't lock/unlock or arm/disarm the alarmalarm.

I have changed the batteries in both the spare key and main, yet the problem still persists.

Does anyone have suggestions on how to resolve?

Thanks

Hi,

Unsure why this happened to you!

When this happened on one of my MR2's many moons ago, you had to put the key in the ignition and then press the lock button then the unlock button (on the key, not the car), you might have to cycle through lock and unlock a couple of times tho.

I can't remember if the keys had to be turned to get the dashboard lights on just before car starts tho before pressing the buttons.

This was due to something to do with a rolling code transmitted from key to car - each time it's pressed, a different code was sent, then both units move on to the next code. If either unit "forgets" which code to send, the above procedure puts them back in synch.

Can't say I've heard it happen before on an RX, but worth a try!

Let us know what happens!
