Hi Everyone

Been a while!!!!

My reliable Ls400 has a red parking light perminately on. After releasing the brake lever on the left hand side of the wheel. The red light stays permanetely on.

Any suggestions please.

Its usually a sign of low brake fluid ! I would check reservoir under bonnet and for leaks.

place foot behind brake lever and pull up.

some time lever doesnt come up all they way and that can trigger brake light switch on.

.................. if it's a bulb the likely culprit would be the offside rear brake light ...... these only seem to last about 18 years before they fail ........ a common fault :whistling:

The scenario of spring not returning far enough so as to operate the switch is the most likely, this usually happens because the "y" bracket in the tunnel above the propshaft is gunged up and corroded. The brake cables lead off the bracket to each rear parking brake mechanism and are exposed for about four inches before they enter the outer sheath that protects them from road detritus.

To clean and lubricate this area you will need to get right under the middle of the car, best done on a lift.

As Malcolm suggests.... it is probaly a brake light bulb. It was with mine. Get someone to have a look.
