Bp Optima Fuel

I've recently tried the new BP Optima fuel in my LS. Garage (BP) told me they were getting good reports on increased fuel economy - it costs approx 5p a litre more than standard unleaded. I thought therefore worth it if I get better economy - again questioned whether it needed car to be modified to take advantage of it (problem with shell optimax) but was assured it was designed to take advantage of standard settings.

The result was conclusive (well over one tank?) fuel economy over last 2 months 24.6mpg fuel economy on tank of optima 24.5mpg. I might give it one more chance but I'll need more convincing!!!

Has anyone else tried it.

it seems to work out that the fuel is 7% dearer, but economy is improved by 3.5%, so it costs 3.5% more BUT, you get power and accelleration improvements of about 3%, effectively it's almost the same price, allowing for better performance. AND don't they claim it's better for your engine, cleaner, blah blah blah?

Tried them both now....sorry guys but I'm with Zee...IMHO Optimax is the best bang for your buck!

Ditto...

I also did a semi-scientific test and proved that Optimax worked out cheaper than normal unleaded (pound per mile)

On the recommendation of the guys here, I switched over to Shell Optimax and not only gained increased performance and more miles per gallon, I'm also getting more stares from nubile young women, my bank manager calls me by my first name and I've also won the Lotto... twice! :D
