Upgrading To Is300h But Have A Question Regarding The Sat Nav Screen

Recommended Posts

Funny you should say that

I was offered £9,750 for my 4 year old ct premier with 57k on the clock

No problems and 1 Kerberos alloy.

I nearly fell off the chair! I paid £22,700 3 years ago

Independent offered me £10,200 still way too low but in the end I bashed out a deal on the new car so was happy overall .

I could have got £12,500 for it privately at a push but didn't want the hassle and having it up for sale a while. Plus the car I looked at was the only one I'd found with the spec I wanted within budget.

But I can't complain as in the overall context of things my actual finance payment is cheaper than the ct if you add the extra bit of insurance and the £10 road tax I'm getting a 2.5 years newer car bigger better beast f sport for the grand total of £12 extra a month!

It really was a no brained in the end

Good job!

How did you find the car? Ive been looking for a while now and ive never actually seen one on Autotrader, eBay or pistonheads like you've bought! I feel like im probably not looking enough!

It was purely on luck I think as I just went on the auto trader and it was the only one with that spec writhing a 70 mile radius and also just happened to be in white and the only one I saw not at a Lexus dealership. He also said a guy came in the day after me to buy the car so feeling pretty pleased

Looks like I have to wait until next Tuesday to pickup as the car is booked on by the garage for the hybrid health check on Monday and also to take a look at the nav screen.

Just had a call from the garage and his nearest dealer which is hull have said to him they've had a few in for the same reason. So hopefully that's going to be a good sign of warranty replacement.

Just a bit dissappinted I've got to wait a whole week before I can pick it up.

I've also got to say a little mention about the garage who has just picked up on the tyres are getting a bit low on rubber and because we both missed it has offered to meet me in the middle for all four tyres changed at £50 a corner which I can't grumble with as for even mid range 18" tyres I'd be looking at at least £85 a corner.

I can say I'm very happy with the service from the garage selling the car

Make sure you get the wheels checked out once the tyres are replaced! Low profile tyres are a PITA to change so tyre changers tend to scuff them up a lot!

If that had of been my car I would have flatly refused to pay the Lexus service price and only offered the Toyota price which is a considerable amount less!

This is how all the initial Lexus dealerships started out, as an extension of the Toyota dealership. Most Lexus dealers still use a common workshop facility. The mechanics working on the Lexus vehicles should have had additional training on those models though. The additional service costs are related to the building the service is carried out in - that is the dealership facilities as a whole, the courtesy car, the additional training and extra insurance costs.

I agree that the should have additional training and only specialise in that specific manufacturers cars.

Reality is though in this day and age it rarely is the case!

I have no problem Lexus charging more for their services as as you mentioned you do get a curtousy car etc.

But the pricing is so high I certainly have no problem having a Toyota trained mechanic servicing and working on my car and paying Lexus this "New" £60 charge yearly for a hybrid check.

It saves a he'll of a lot on the pocket and at the end is stamped etc by Toyota which is worth more than Tom ***** and Harry around the corner come selling time.

In fact I was told by Lexus if it had fully stamped by Toyota it would still be treated as a full dealer service history.

I was also told at the same time that the new hybrid check and the extended warranties have been specifically designed and set out with the terms and conditions to keep you writhin the exclusivity of the Lexus specific garages.

I'm not knocking Lexus at all as I have nothing but praise for my local (Sheffield) dealer.

But at the end of the day they are all in the business to make money.

They have devised a new marketing strategy to sell extended warranties at a very good price but force you to use a Lexus dealer for servicing to keep the warranty and thus put the price of servicing up a considerable amount.

For example the 60k service on the is is £700 just about.

Now that to me just isn't ever going to happen.

People will ultimately pay the price for it

But to me paying half the price at Toyota is acceptable.

Hi Reeves1985

Enjoy and I am sure that you will, as I am still doing with mine 6 weeks in.

By the way ( and only because I worked it out a the weekend ), as you probably already know, when the wing mirrow adjust switch is in the left hand position, the door mirrors dip when in reverse. Whilst they are in that position and whilst you are in reverse, you can adjust them to whatever angle you so wish ( change the 'switch side' position switch first of course ), and then just adjust your drivers side to where ever you need it to be.

Have fun.
