I was just looking for a quick answer, Ok and some experiences from you knowledgeable blokes. Got the standard 'Eurocarparts' e-mail offering Petronas Syntium 5000XS engine oil, 'quite cheaply'. First question. Synthetic or semi? Second. 5/30? The specs on the one I was looking at.. API-SM. ACEA-C3. BMW. LL-04. MB-Approval 229.51. VW. 505.01 Many thanks for any help.

If you change it according to the schedule then I don't think it really matters going semi or fully synthetic, especially as most LSs aren't driven hard.

Thanks for your replies and input, but I was also wondering if anyone had any experience of Petronas oils??

Isn't there a Formula 1 Patronas team? If so I would say the oils must be pretty good, not used them personally I tend to use Castrol Magnatec fully synthetic 5w-30 bought for stock when on sale at Halfrauds.

Hi Steve, thanks for reply. I don't pay too much attention to racing teams, having been involved with a few. Using someone's product was usually down to. 'How much can we have for free'?? And, 'would you like to be a paying sponsor'? Sometimes the product supplied to the racing world was a lot different to what the public were getting????

.............. and there's me popping in to Wilko today to get another 5 ltrs of 15 / 40 semi synthetic oil for £15 :whistling:

Will I ever learn :tomato:
