When I got my car the mirrors dipped when reversing but over the years have worked less and less.

It has bugged me for a while and I have always had it on my list of things to do. I am going t get round to this now. I have found a possible supplier of the plastic parts for the motor gearing in the housing.

Does anyone have any mirrors lying around - they don't have to have the mirrors attached or be in any good condition as all I am interested in is the innards of the housing so I can get a good sample of the parts so I can find and fit compatible parts. I don't want to use mine as the car is in daily use.

Mirrors on eBay are around 100£ and I don't want to pay that for the purpose of what I want to do

Both my mirrors dipped in reverse when I got mine in November last year. The driver's mirror still does every time.

The passenger mirror occasionally dips fully, but mostly just dips part way.

I have the Lexus warranty so I'm hoping this can be attended to when I take it for a service later in the year.

I have found and bought a part that will be suitable to see if the bits I have found are compatable in repairing the wing mirror movement issues - its coming from the states so I will post when I have the parts for this and if it works or not.

Apparently the innards of the wing mirror for the IS 250 are the same as that of the following models ... IS250 / IS350 / ES330 / GS300 / SC430 / LS430 on various years from 2001 to 2010

Have u checked that you haven't set them to move different amounts. They can be set to move when reversing to a specific height.

Update. Not taken mine for service yet.

Stripped my mirrors in order to fit LED puddle lights the other week. The nylon threaded shafts of the mirror movement mechanism were caked in "muck"

I used an old toothbrush and cillit bang to clean the threads and then sprayed them with silicon lubricant.

All works perfectly now.
