Low Profile Reg Plates

They probably are not which is why I said

I like the way they get around the law by selling all the plates as 'off-road' only.

Even if they are they need to see the car's reg document but they are mail order. From their web site:

Due to stringent restrictions of trade placed upon the 'Company' by the DVLA, all registration plates, legal or otherwise will be sold to the 'Purchaser' on the basis of being for show use only and the 'Purchaser' may risk prosecution if the registration plates are used on the UK highway.

Quite a lot of us have plates from fancyplates.com, they are mail order and don't request a copy of your registration documents. I guess they are also 'for show use', but I don't see an issue having them on the car as the plates themsevles have the correct fonts, spacing etc.

Another example of police manpower spent on prosecuting minor issues while the bigger crimes go unsolved. As long as the number plate is legible what's the issue with different fonts and so on?

Interesting point on Top Gear last night, the Nth Wales police force with the zero tolerence towards speeding, has the lowest closure rates for burglaries on record! Nice to see that they have their priorities right.

I guess the only way to avoid the police having to argue the toss with motorists as to what is legible and what isn't, is to have a standard and to enforce it. Imagine a friend of yours is knocked down by a car that has plates made up in some italic font, and in the fleeting glimpse you get of it you can't quite make out the number? Those same plates, 10 yards away on a stationary car and in good light might look 'acceptable'

I suppose in North Wales the trick is to burgle the house, then drive away slowly so Mr.Plod doesn't go after you :winky:
