The key that came with my Lexus was glued together with super glue and consisted of roughly 25 pieces :(

These 1-button remote keys are as rare as hen's teeth, but I managed to buy one from a guy who is breaking a mk1 on Fleabay.

£25 delivered and in excellent condition.

After some cutting, soldering and glueing - I now have a working remote locking key :)

The most fiddly part was changing over the blade....

yes - you are right - they are rare and you have been lucky to get hold of one - did you get the emergency key with yours which is a keyblade held in a credit sized card?

Yes I got the emergency key in card too

... when I had my Mk1 I remember never being able to use the remote locking at all, a fiddly button on the side of the key, BUT central locking and all else worked fine.

It never worked with my old key - now with the new 'Frankenkey', it works fine :)

Had you also asked for the little plug in eeprom integrated circuit from the central locking ECU located in the boot area you would only have to have changed the key blade.

Steve,

Thanks for that. Next time :)

The wee circuit board was easy enough to change though.

The blade was more difficult
