Clicking/electrical Relay Sound When Driving On Just Battery

Recommended Posts

Hi again.

A couple of months ago I met up with a very friendly and knowledgeable member on here, Giles. He noticed a noise on my car when driving on Battery which sounds like a clicking/relay electrical noise. Does anyone have any experience with this or know what this might be?

Does it only occur when running only on electric or is it only at that point that the vehicle is quite enough to hear it? Can you tell where it is coming from? If you completely turn off the climate control system does it stop?

I can't confirm whether the noise stops or not when the engine kicks in. It sounds like it is coming from the driver's side of the engine. I can hear it well listening from the off side front wheel. The noise happens regardless of climate on or off.

Thanks Colin.

If you have no warning lights on and the car drives as it should I wouldn't worry unduly, like all modern cars they depend on multi ECU use and relays, mine does all sorts of clicks when the ignition is turned on resetting the AC flaps, fuel pump relay, engine control relay etc.
