I do! Well...description says "passenger seat burst" I don't see an issue with that.

It's not that difficult to either repair or pick up a 'new' seat.

You can probably haggle him down to £900 - £950 - good price if you ask me.

I'd be more worried about no mention of a cambelt replacement after 123,000+ miles. The 'burst' seat sounds like a bad case of acne.

I mentioned this one the other day, it does look like a very good buy, and just because the cambelt isn't mentioned doesn't mean it hasn't been done. Even if it hasn't it's still a good price, considering Lexus will do it for £295.

Not keen on the wheels though.

They look like Mazda RX8 wheels.

regarding cam belt change:

Emailed seller and last belt change was on 15-08-2003 at 58,500 miles!! 2 years overdue

Sellers argument was that on the 1st of May the car had been fully serviced and a 71-point check had been carried out by.......wait for it.........Halfords!!!!

I wouldn't even trust Halfords to inflate my tyre.

I don't know how Halfords get away with what they do. How can one of their staff carry out a 71 point check on a car as complex as an LS400? They should stick to selling bikes and chamois leathers....and while they're at it, training their staff to have some manners and learn about the importance of customer relations!

It seems to be back on Gumtree and has now graduated to a cat D!

phil it was originally mentioned as Cat D

reference Halfords: very overpriced - i only use them if i cannot wait for the post to come thru

Phil, for £295 at Lexus (if the offer is still on), you ONLY get the cambelt changed. The other worn ancilliary bits, i.e.cambelt tensioner, idler pulley and waterpump will not be touched. While your're in there, best to get those changed too. That amounts to a lot more than £295 though. Still, he could always get Halfrauds to do the job!!

I didn't spot it being a cat d first time round, my mistake. Actually, I don't see it as a problem as long as there's evidence of the original damage. My other car was written off 3 years ago but it got repaired and I still use it. I was aware that Lexus only replace the belt, but it's still a good price. If you include the water pump etc some main dealers will do it for around £500. I was quoted that by an independent.

The Gumtree car is still a good buy I think, if it passes a good going over that is.

didn't know the Ls400 had a " premium pack " ever .... wonder what it was .... maybe the price reflects it, solid gold bodywork perhaps !

The only thing is you start out at the belt change...

...but then either find there is more...or you really should replace stuff.

I've done mine at 72k and whilst the water pump looked ok, it just has to be done whilst you're in there. Would it do another xk miles or x years, maybe/maybe not.

My drive belt tensioner had wear, idler pulley very tired and given the components are consumables I opted to replace the cambelt tensioners.

That's a few £ at Lexus and would up the bill.
