Service Costs

Guys, given the servicing costs seem to differ across the country, I thought it would be useful to have a thread where you can post the prices and the kind of service you got.

I'm about to put mine in for a minor service, but to give me an idea of what I should be paying, what did you guys pay for your last (ideally recent) minor service?

There should be less variation these days, Lexus seem to be dictating the prices. IS-F pricing on the website is £295 minor, £545 full, £895 for 60k and £695 for 100k.

Not sure what discount levels dealers are offering for essential servicing for vehicles over 5 years old.

Have been quoted 8-900 at main dealers, Lexus specialist near me has quoted 4-500 for 60k service due next, BUT car has done 49k, so I've a question for all, do I do the 60k service on age or miles?? Probably won't hit 60k for another couple of years. Thanks

It's which ever comes first, assume generally it's due to miles and wear and tear but you are not far off 60k so I'd just do it now if the age is appropriate.

Mine only had 22,000 miles on the clock when it had its major service last year - the spark plugs still looked like new but were still changed along with everything else on the schedule.

Had the 6yr/60K done last June for around £680 I believe?

My small 7yr/70K was done last month for the very reasonable sum of £250 at Lexus Woodford.

Did you ask for the spark plugs to be changed? I thought they only changed them at 60K.

I've paid into a lexus service plan since june2014 which costs £36 a month.I've just had the 60000mile service done which would have cost me £800 pounds!!So 12x36pounds is err over 400 pounds so definetely cheaper in the long run.Yes it is for 3 years but you hardly notice a tenner a week?This covers all my services due in the 3 years.

60k or 6 years, which ever comes first.

I'm sorry to say that I've little faith in main dealers, having had my IS-200 and my IS-300 both with full FLSH having not been serviced as the specified requirements list, I started to opt for the local specialist to me, my IS-250 SE-L has not been to a main dealer from new, only for a recall job, when asked why by Lexus, I stated my two previous cars and the issues, when asked I told them where I go n why I opted for the specialist, they know the garage well, but they never gave any explanation or offered any comfort/reassurance for me to take it to them. Being Ex Lexus mechanics, they know the IS-F too, have a couple on their books. They quoted me £4-500 for the 60k service

"Westfield Motors" in Rawreth, very helpful, have always given me a call prior to any additional work required or given a heads up IF anything will need attention on next service

The plugs are on the schedule, irrespective of mileage, so they were changed.

The fluids (so oil, transmission etc) I understand. They will breakdown irrespective of whether the car is driven or not.

Spark plugs are only going to wear when the vehicle is used. If our plug life is good for 60K miles, there is no reason to change them on a car that has only travelled 22K miles?!

I personally see that as a money spinner for the dealerships. I had mine done last year as part of the 6yr/60K service, but my car had reached 52K miles at that stage.

I seriously doubt I would have had them done with less that half that mileage! :(

I would be very surprised if a dealer insisted on carrying out the change if the owner told them not to do it? Then again, would they stamp the service book if they didn't do all of the items on the schedule? Probably not! :(

All quite true Peter, not sure if the plugs would be affected in some way by age, don't know. Either way, I think it's still important to follow the schedule and would feel that it didn't receive a 'full' major service if they weren't replaced.

Mine is 7 yrs in October, last year at 6 yrs the main dealers failed to do the 60k 6yr service, mileage was 45k then, now is 49k n due a service, I phoned Lexus to findout if it had plugs at 6yr (42k) they said no, so am I to assume that it doesn't require a 60k 6yr service, Lexus are saying so, so why not last year? (Pre my ownership) feeling confused n concerned. Not sure what to do??

Mistake by the dealer. It should of been done at 6 years.

Although NOT the F, the wife's RAV4 has just been mot'd, fsh with Toyota, bought by us in Jan 15, mot revealed NO brake fluid cap on reservoir n a missing breather pipe on the water reservoir, thanks for your attention to detail Toyota/Lexus Southend, don't think we'll be back anytime soon 😤

After much deliberation I opted for an Indy service, actually my brother in laws best friend, ALL genuine Lexus parts, ALL 8 plugs, last 2 plugs take around 2 to 3 hrs to do, the cost was £450, book stamped, albeit NOT Lexus, BUT I know that my car has had ALL that the 60k service requires.

An update for those in 2 minds, having picked up my Yaris yesterday, (Toyota mIndealer) the salesman has an Aston Martin, when asking him the question of service, he replied, his doesn't go to Aston Martin for its service due to cost,.....he refuses to pay there labour costs, but did buy the service kit, (genuine parts).....as did I for the F,....so it really is down to personal preference, and like he said, if genuine parts are used there's no difference, it's all about how people view the stamp.

The stamp is the key and how long people intend to keep their car for. Enthusiasts will not mind a car being services at a reputable specialist/Indy but non enthusiasts will. The only 'issue' is limiting the market come resale. All the buyers who contacted me about mine asked if it had flsh.

Yup, the average joe will be looking for full main dealer history whereas us enthusiasts will be happy that it's been serviced at a specialist. I guess if you plan on keeping it for a good few years then it's not really a concern.
