'56 Plate Is250 Bluetooth Query

Recommended Posts

I've posted this here as it might be specific to the 250/220d.

My car has the MM setup, both me and my wife use it, we both have Microsoft Lumia phones. Each one pairs with the car's system without a problem (although the car doesn't seem to broadcast a Bluetooth device name like other Bluetooths I've had do - on the phone screen, there's just a space where a device name would normally be).

Auto-connect is set up and works, but there's a bit of a problem! If I've been using the car for a few days, each and every time I get in, the phone auto-connects. When the wife gets in, her phone doesn't. So...she manually connects the phone....and it will then auto-connect every time. Then, when I get in next time...yep, you've guessed it...I have to manually connect mine and it will then auto-connect....and so on, and so forth!

Have I done something wrong somewhere, am I missing something? The car doesn't 'forget' either of the phones, it just doesn't seem to want to auto-connect to more than one. I've looked in the MM handbook and I think I've done everything right. Could it just be because the car and its Bluetooth setup is older-generation, whereas our phones aren't?

My car does exactly the same thing .. the best way to resolve this and it has worked for me every time is to tell your wife to stop driving it...

Seriously - it does happen to mine but it just so happens that my wife will not drive it ... happy days !

This is by design and is still the same on newer models. You have to manually select which phone you want connected. Mainly to avoid the situation when both phones are in the car together and the wrong one connecting.

Many thanks for the quick replies chaps, appreciated! At least its not a glitch...or me being stupid! Our previous motor had a Parrot fitted, if we both got in the car together it auto-connected with the phone most recently added to its list of paired devices. I suppose the Lexus' logic works up to a point, but it would be nice if it just auto-connected to whichever single phone got in the car!

I agree about the wife not driving it....I had 4 mint alloys up until yesterday...!!
