Hi,

I have a 59 reg plate is250 and lexus quoted me £650 for full 60k milage service with spark plug change and £300 for full service without spark plug change. It seems very expensive, especially £300 difference for spark plugs!?

Given age of my car, is it still worth going to these dealers or better value just going local garage?

Thanks

is you car on 60k? Mine will only be at 50kmiles for the sixth major service so my plan was to have a full service on the cut price servicing for older vehicles and have the 60k elements ie spark pllugs done at the following service - which will be the 7th minor one (again on the older vehicle cheaper service) when my car will actually be on 60k miles.

As for is it worth sticking to the main dealers - well I suppose a dealer service history may be a bonus at resale time. Try a quote from a Toyota main dealer - use the same parts but lower labour rates(?)

Just go to a indy, get plugs from the USA, absolutely no need to chuck away £650, its not a 500k supercar we are talking here. its about 2 or 3 hours top to do plugs, I would say 2 is more than enough.

should cost in or around £100 from a local indy to do plugs if you provide them, the ones near the engine rear at worst.

Under 30k miles? Don't bother changing the plugs until 60k miles.
