Hi guys I recently had the caps replaced in my LS400. Was nothing wrong with it but thought I would get it done as they had never been done and at 20 years on was a ticking time bomb. Anyway thought I would share the details of the firm that did the work.

It cost me £60 all in but I dropped it off and picked it up. The companies name is

Clark Electronics

63 John Player Building

Stirling Enterprise Park
Stirling
Stirlingshire
FK7 7RP
Scotland
01786 450330
They are a small firm specialising in the repair of circuit boards. I was going to do the job myself but I was having trouble getting the caps I needed in the quantity I needed.
They tested the caps they took out and presented them back to me. He tested each cap and said they were all fine. Very happy with the service and have used this company multiple times.

That's the thing my car only has 30k miles on the clock. :D

Took them about 5 days but they normally quote 2 to 3 days. If you contact them and make them aware of your time line they will try to accommodate. Very friendly guys.

.............. so actual timeline undertaking the replacements would be about an hour maybe ???

Yeah probably but 1 they don't wait about for you to drop in an ecu to fix. They have other jobs to do. 2. The capacitor requirements for these mean they don't always have them in stock and have to get them and 3 who knows what damage the leaking capacitors may have reeked on the circuit board so it may be more work than simply replacing the caps. That said I think 2 to 3 days is very reasonable.

I was going to do mine myself but struggled to get the caps without buying multiples I didn't need and the lead time was long on some as well. I figured getting Clark Electronics to do it was the smart option in this case.

..... Steve2006 on here provided the right caps for guys on here a while back, at cost price to us thankfully ....... just got to get round to having them done !!!

Don't think my fingers are flexible enough to do the job personally tbh

( sorry Steve, that I haven't got around to it yet )

I had some from Steve2006 as well and I haven't got round to getting mine done yet either!

It is on the list of jobs to do at some point ...
