Changed the pollen filter on my GS450h today and took some pics in case it helps other members. If nothing else it can save you £xx paying a dealer....

It is a very simple and straightforward job, only requiring care and heeding the very first step so you don't break the system - if you don't follow step 1 to the letter then you will damage the filter cover door which is an expensive and awkward fix

1. turn engine on, switch aircon to recirc only so that the only button lit is the recirc one:

Then turn off engine

2. open the glovebox, empty of all 'detritus' and take a firm hold on the shelf and shelf support in the lower centre (all one assembly) and gently pull out of the glove box and place to one side

3. you will then see the filter door cover (scuse the muck, needs a good hoovering)

4. push up vertically all the way along the top edge of the door until a gap apppears at the base

see pic for the gap that appears. OK that is the most difficult part done. Where the red arrow is insert a finger and pull the door GENTLY towards you so it moves over and down and then pull out

5. remove door and place to one side

6. you can now see the filter housing with a push in clip either side

7. push each clip in and pull the housing up; take hold and gently pull out towards you

housing removed - note the up arrow which matches an arrow on your new filter

8. squeeze the old filter to remove it, and insert new filter with the up arrow up!

new filter in housing

9. replace filter housing making sure that both clips 'click into place

10.refit door. Firstly put the door back into position with the gap at the base. Once in position push the door downwards (direction of arrow) so that it returns to its original placing.

Yes Mike thats the way thanks for sharing I wager there are loads of gs s running round with that lever broke

Even dealers break them

Best thing to do is lock glove box when took for service and change it yourself

mine was broken after it first sevice in my ownership they said they didnt break it but they repaired it with a repair kit that you can now buy from Lexus only requires glovebox out the did it in less than an hour
