The long awaited quickshifts have become available at last - pheww!

We are due to have them in the 2nd week of January (2004 before you ask :P ).

There are only a very small number available in the first delivery and I know that lots of people were interested - so it will be a case of 1st come 1st served as we will accept orders immediately.

Oh yes, the price is £165 plus vat.

Mark :)

Glad to gear they have arrived....

By whom are they made.......?

what do they do ?

Taken from TDi website:

"Quickshift gear lever. This lever will shorten the throw giving a much slicker and positive shift. Ideal for drivers that really like 'stirring the box'! £150.00."

its just a shorter gear lever isnt it?

No it's not just a shorter lever. I presume you learned about fulcrum points and ratios at uni.

I might be interested...

Is it much of a job to fit myself ?

are instructions suplied ?

Hi Duncan, I'll know for sure when they arrive but I expect them to be suitable for self installation with basic hand tools, and come with instructions.

Rob,

It's a shorter throw, meaning.... you dont have to move the stick as much to get it into gear, so, being quicker, hence the name "quick shift"...

Theoretically speaking, changing the ratio to shorten the travel should require more effort to move the gear lever, but in reality it is not noticeable unless the ratio is changed too much, which is not case here. Changing the ratio does not improve or reduce any notchiness.

Because the is200 gearshift is particularly poor, I think these will make a pleasant improvement :)

was asking as others i have seen were just shorter levers.

yep know all about fulcrum points and ratios

Why is the IS200 gearshift poor?

I've never had trouble finding gears in mine..

I didn't mean to infer that there is a problem is gear selection (sorry if I didn't make my self clear  ), but my opinion is that the tactile quality of gear change and length of lever travel is poor. It it's probably the sort of situation where you don't realise it until you try something better.
