Hi I'm new to the forum I have lost my key and I am not sure of what key to order. I have a 2010 is 250 f sport and wondering if anybody knows wat key fob I will need. Thanks

Your dealer will know as its unfortunately the only option you have in replacing a key.

Its expensive so sit down before the dealer gives you the price ...

yes, best get a strong whiskey

how did you manage that? I would always request 2 keys with a car. You never know what can happen.

Thanks guys and lost it in the gym haha had to get a toyota key programmed. It works but keeps saying key not detected

Posted

And how much do use reckon it will cost?

Posted

I replaced one of mine and it cost a total of £330, this price is for the key itself and the programming needed, if you've not got any key then I would definitely sit down.

I have got a used lexus fob and key can u not call somebody out to programme it

If you have the master key you could try Timpsons as they can transfer the info from one to another but I am unsure if it will work with these types of keys .. or a good locksmith key cutter ...

No harm in trying

Let us know how you get on ...

If you have a brand new key, it is possible to program it to the car. It's not that difficult but does require a subscription to the lexus technical software which is expensive, and not all garages/locksmiths might have it. The software can also deactivate lost keys.

However, you must have a working, programmed key to do this. The programming process requires an already programmed key before it can be started.

Second-hand keys cannot be re-programmed to a different car.

If you've lost all your keys, then you have a BIG problem.

I've got somebody coming out tomorrow with a brand new key they have quoted me £220. Hope this works and thanks for the replies, will let you know how I get on

Have you thought about your insurance policies?

Might be worth looking if your car or home policy covers loss of key/remotes?

My bank account covers my keys for the car.

Don't know if it's true or not but I was told it would cost about £2000 if you've lost both keys.

Fact or fiction?

wouldn't be surprised tbh.

any update on this, Im glad I have 2 keys.

Probably true, as it would mean replacing the ECU, security unit and door locks.

the guy who came out to do the key had brought the wrong key so hes coming back tommorow with the right key to try it, will let use know how it goes, and he said it will be £220 for evrything
