Rx300 Part Has Fallen Off!

Hello all

This is my first post as a newbie to the Lexus forum! Hope someone can help. I have a 2002 RX300 and today a part fell off the underside (I think) of the car. I have posted a pic of the part, you can see the bracket holding it on has rusted through!

The end piece feels like its made of solid rubber. Theres no part number on here, anyone know what the part is and if its safe to drive the car until I can get it fixed? Drove it briefly before noticing the part had fallen off and didnt seem to be an issue..

Hi it looks like a vibration damper that is fitted to the exhaust I think it's on the centre section. Don't worry it shouldn't case any issues

Hmm, well if it an exhaust damper it could well cause issues in the future, it might be there to dampen harmonics that in development caused fatigue failures of the exhaust, might be just a NVH damper but if it's there for the former reason better to replace the damper than replace a fractured exhaust pipe in the future.

Well I have had loads of these fall off mk 1 rx and never had a problem. It looks like the bracket has come off with it too so if you wanted to replace it you would req the centre section of the exhaust. Very expensive from lexus

I am sure it is tucked away under the vehicle where you cannot see it just to look good..........
