Puncture Gel

Has anyone ever tried any of that Gel (forgot the name) that is pumped into tyres so if a nail goes through the tyre then does not go deflate and wreck a good fixable tyre?

seeing as tyres are over £120 or more a shot thats alot of money to fork out! plus being low profile the risk of damaging a wheel as well!

I remember after a while, it turns into little beady things inside the tire.. very strange.

this is permanent stuff steve... not tyre foam if you spot a puncture.

it was offered to me when i took the car to the valeters... I said no due to not knowing much about this product

I think steve is reffering to some thing else and not tyreweld, this wrecks your tyre anyway and is just a way of getting you home.I would be interested in the product as my wife attracts nails i think she has magnetic tyres

That's what was used on my puncture - I was advised that the maximun I could travel was 40mph over a total distance of 280 miles.

Needless to say, it took me a while to get home from Brighton to NW London on Sunday night...

My mate has put this in his Landcruiser tyres. He swears by it Trouble is, he cannot remember the name of the product ATM :duh:

The only clue I could get from him was 'Green gunge from Wilco'...'

I'll keep pestering him though and post further info when I've got it.

I used a similar product for M/Cycles(Z rated tyres)comes with a "t"shaped tool,rubber plugs,glue and an air cannister

but cant remember the name of it,you free the hole, insert tool and bore a hole big enough for the plug add some glue

insert plug on the end of the tool,pushed it into the whole and pull it back so the long piece is sticking through the tyre

wait for it to adhere then pump the tyre up with the air cannister......got me out of trouble a few times.

And lasts for the life of the tyre.

finally got the details... Gold Seal 'Premier Miracle Puncture Seal'

It says...

'Once your tyre has been treated Gold Seal lasts for the life of the tyre. Sealing punctures in the tyre tead up to 10mm in diameter as they happen, no matter how fast tou are travelling...'

The tyre need to be completely deflated before adding the seal.

As I said, my mate swears by it. I will give it a try in the new year.

i was wondering about wheel balancing.... does it put the balancing out at all?

Get your wheels balanced before adding the gunge. Because it's liquid, it should iron out any minor imbalances itself - according to the manufacturer...

My mate hasn't noticed any particular problems.

i would be interested in this for sure.... i dont fancy replacing my tyres
